VIc: Striking oil rig workers to consider peace deal
MELBOURNE, Feb 25 AAP - Cleaners, cooks and other catering staff on Bass Strait oil
rigs who are striking over casual workers' wages and working conditions are meeting today
to consider a peace deal.
The 120 Australian Workers' Union (AWU) workers walked off the job on Monday claiming
"anti-union" discrimination by their employer, Eurest (formerly P&O) Catering Services.
They voted yesterday to continue their strike action, prompting fresh talks between
AWU leaders and Eurest in Melbourne last night.
